Gulf Wildlife Rescue Unit

Gulf Wildlife Rescue Unit is devised of local United States Coast Guard Approved Captains that have the ability to increase the rescue efforts by their local knowledge of water ways. These Captains have worked with scientist worldwide for many years on a variety of specie studies and now want to help in the BP oil spill with all wildlife rescue efforts. GWRU believes that we the fisherman should be 100% involved in nursing our ecosystem back to health. Many of the Captain's with GWRU have Environmental and Marine Biology Degrees and will assist in overseeing entire Captain's fleet in rescue efforts.

Dogs & Cats Affected by Oil Spill
All animals are being effected by this oil spill. Dogs and Cats are being turned over at alarming rate due to the loss of jobs in the fishing and seafood industry. Animal Rescue New Orleans is always there to help but funding is tight and they have been inundated with animals. The oil spill has effected animals and people in so many ways. Our Pet Rention Program needs bolstering with your donations! These individuals or families who have lost their income can no longer afford to feed and take care of their pets. With your donations we can help these people by providing assistance. Losing a family companion directly impacts these people. Wildlife Affected by Oil Spill
According to the Audubon Nature Institute, it is anticipated that the greatest number of animals affected will be sea turtles as the Kemps Ridley species is currently migrating to the beaches of Mexico to nest. However, as seen below, pelicans and other natural wildlife in the area are being affected as well. See Fish Toxicity Proposal
